The demo existed, and then it did not

This is worth stating plainly because plenty of third-party listings and older articles still describe a free demo as available. The developers announced one on 8 July 2026 in a Steam post titled "Demo is available now!", describing it as building on the earlier playtest with a trading post, new crafting recipes and new progression options. It ran as its own free Steam app, separate from the paid game.

As of 10 September 2026 it is gone. Searching the Steam store for "Tiny Eden" returns three results — the game and the Goodies Pack and Soundtrack DLC — and none of them is a demo. The main store page no longer mentions a demo anywhere, and the demo's old app page no longer resolves to a listing. If a site offers you one anyway, that is not the developers' build.

Your region may already pay far less

Steam prices this game per region, and the spread is wide enough to matter. What Steam's refund policy does and does not give you

With the demo gone, the nearest thing to a no-cost look is Steam's standard refund policy. Valve's published wording is that the refund offer applies "within two weeks of purchase and with less than two hours of playtime" for games on the Steam store, and that a refund can be requested for any reason through help.steampowered.com.

Be clear about what that is, though. Valve frames refunds as consumer protection, not as a trial mechanism, and says outright that refunds are not there as a way to get games for free. Buying with the intention of refunding is not what the policy is for, and Valve reserves the right to act on abuse.

Why a copy from anywhere else falls behind within days

This is not an abstract warning for this particular game. Tiny Eden shipped Update #1 on 8 September and Update #2 on 9 September — two patches in the first three days, both shaped by what players were reporting.

Those patches were not cosmetic. Update #1 changed save-file compatibility so that anything older than version 0.10.0 stops appearing in the Load Game menu at all. Update #2 fixed gamepad remapping, removed the option to decline quest orders, adjusted soil and kitchen upgrade prices, and corrected the soil info cards to show all seven components.

A note for Russian-language searches

Russian is one of the languages the game actually ships in — it is on the Steam listing alongside English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Polish and Brazilian Portuguese, and Belarusian was added in Update #1.

Update #2 also improved Russian and Polish pluralisation, and added translations for soil names, settings labels, measurement units and the XP counter. So the official build is translated, it is priced at 594 руб. in the Russian store, and it keeps receiving those fixes.

If you played the demo before it came down

Your demo save will not carry over. The developers put it in bold in the launch announcement: start a new game, do not continue from a demo save, because demo saves will not work or will crash. Update #1 then made that structural — anything older than version 0.10.0 no longer appears in the Load Game menu at all.

So there is nothing to salvage and nothing to migrate. Buy it, start fresh, and treat the demo hours as time spent deciding rather than progress lost.
