Tiny Eden playtest
The Tiny Eden playtest was an earlier pre-release phase, opened by the developers in March 2026 and updated in May with new systems, tools and drones. It came before the free public demo, which launched in July 2026 and is the build to use now ahead of the 7 September 2026 release.

Playtest, then demo — two different things
The developers ran two distinct pre-release phases. The playtest opened first, announced on 6 March 2026, and received an update on 22 May covering new systems, tools and drones.
The public demo followed on 8 July 2026. Guides and videos made during the playtest may describe features or interfaces that changed before the demo.
| Date | Phase |
|---|---|
| 6 March 2026 | Playtest opens |
| 22 May 2026 | Playtest update — new systems, tools and drones |
| 8 July 2026 | Public demo goes live |
| 7 September 2026 | Full 1.0 release |
What the playtest update added
The May announcement is the only official source that names drones as a game feature. Its title covers new systems, tools and drones together.
What drones actually do is not explained in that post or anywhere else official. Drone skins later appear as cosmetics in the paid Goodies Pack, which confirms they exist without describing their function (unconfirmed).
Play the demo instead
The demo followed the playtest and ran free on Steam until around the 7 September launch. Neither is available now — the shipped 1.0 game replaced both.
The developers thanked demo players in their launch announcement, referring to feedback, strawberries grown and weeds pulled — which suggests the demo covers the core growing and cooking loop.
The game is not Early Access
Asked directly whether Tiny Eden would enter Early Access, the developers answered no — it launches as a full 1.0 release.
That is worth knowing when reading playtest-era coverage, because it means the September build is intended as complete rather than a starting point.
What comes after launch
The developers plan DLCs, free updates and major content expansions including new plants, recipes, mechanics and locations.
They have also floated expanding the plant families into mushrooms, vines and trees if things go well, though that is stated as an intention rather than a commitment.
Why the game was redeveloped
Asked why Tiny Eden went through redevelopment, the developers answered simply that they wanted to deliver a higher-quality experience.
That is the main reason playtest-era footage can look different from the shipped game, and why anything recorded before 7 September should be checked against 1.0.
What the current build contains
The 1.0 release includes around 40 plant species, at least 40 recipes, seven-component soil simulation, four growth stages, breeding, apartment expansion and a rooftop garden.
It is first-person only, single-player, and runs on Steam Deck. The developers confirmed there will be no third-person mode.
