Why the shop says level 99

The Shop screen lists five factions down the left side, and the Vintage Shop is one of them. Until it opens, a player looking for calendula sees the seeds gated at rank 99, which one player called a game-breaking bug, because a quest asks you to deliver 4 calendulas to the drone on the roof.

The developers' answer is below. Another player wrote that completing the pigment quest gifts you some calendula seeds, and players describe the seeds arriving by mail.

The route to the Vintage Shop

The trouble is that the Vintage Shop is locked too, and players asked how to open it in at least three separate threads. The clearest route is from a player's Steam guide, written for people stuck on the drone story, the pepper and the calendula together.

It is one player's account, not an official guide, and it matches the pepper questline on the hot pepper page. Update #8 says players are no longer required to reach Level 2 with Hot Peppers to complete that quest; it does not say which level 2 it means.

   Splice it in the lab, replant from the spliced seed and harvest it. The steps are on the hot pepper page.

The Grand Opening quest: five of each, at once

The first Vintage Shop quest trapped two players who delivered all the flowers to the table, watched it vanish and found the quest still open. Replies agree that delivering is not enough: the quest also asks you to plant five of each flower.

One player who finished it had planters for cornflowers, chamomile and lavender. Another's advice is that the five must be growing at the same time, so digging one up and replanting it does not count twice.

• "The quest states "plant 5 each" of those flowers. It does not say to give 20 of each to the person."
• "Note: you have to have 5 different plants of each concurrently -- replanting in the same pot does not count as 2."

Pigment, and the secret notes

The pigment quest is the second one, and the dish is cooked at the stove, where players say the recipe appears. The community sheet lists it as 4 poppy, 8 lavender and 1 red beet.

Players also describe a hunt for three secret notes. One thread names it as the first step of Hot Conference, while Update #8 adds quest markers to the secret notes during the Pigment quest, so it is not clear whether one quest or both use it. A player who finished the hunt says the first note is in the Atrium near the waterfall, the second on the apartments floor and the third on the roof.

Another player places a note on the staircase wall at the highest level of the roof. Notes were a common stall: one player found about seven and the quest still asked for three, and nobody answered.

Growing calendula: the super compost loop

Once you have the seeds, players say calendula needs super compost. The Biosphere quest's step reads Upgrade Calendula to level 3, and composters make super compost only after an upgrade, so players described a loop: the quest wants calendula, calendula wants super compost, and the upgrade comes from the quest.

The developers' answer is to finish the Biosphere quest first, which lets you upgrade the composter, covered on the super compost page. One player says they were able to plant the calendula using extra regular compost instead of super compost.

Pansies: the same lock, and a separate bug

Pansy seeds were also listed at level 99, and orders for floral garden tea need them. Update #2 removed the option to decline quest orders, and players reported all five order slots filled with tea they could not make, which they called a softlock.

The patches changed the level but not, at first, the outcome. Players still saw level 2 on 16 and 17 September, after Updates #7 and #8, and the developers said they were checking it urgently. Update #9 lists the fix again.
