Tiny Eden: save wiped
Save loss is a reported topic on the game's own Steam Community board, where Save wiped appears as a discussion thread. The developers have not answered that thread, but two official rules explain many saves that vanish or fail: Update #1 stopped supporting saves from before version 0.10.0, which no longer appear in the Load Game menu, and the launch post warned that demo saves will not work. Also confirmed: Tiny Eden supports Steam Cloud, and that the game has no game over — running out of money is described as easy to recover from.
What is actually confirmed
Steam Cloud appears in the game's store listing categories, which means save data can sync through Steam rather than living only on one machine.
Beyond those two rules, no official source describes save file locations, backup behaviour, or what causes the losses reported in the Save wiped thread (unconfirmed).
- Steam Cloud — listed in the store page categories
- Save Anytime — also listed as a store page feature
- Save wiped — an existing thread title on the official discussion board
- Update #1 — saves from before version 0.10.0 are no longer supported and do not appear in Load Game
- Launch post — demo saves will not work or will crash
- Cause and fix for other save losses — not documented (unconfirmed)
What Updates #8 and #9 changed about saves
Two later patches touched the save menu. Update #9 on 18 September hides incompatible saves from the Load Game menu instead of showing them as unusable entries, so a save that is missing from the list may simply be one of those. It also makes starting a new game ask for confirmation before it overwrites your autosave; before, it overwrote the latest autosave with no way to recover it.
Where the files are, and why Steam Cloud can stay empty on Linux and Steam Deck, is on the save file location page.
This is demo-stage reporting
The reports sit alongside other demo-stability threads on the same board, including topics about the demo not launching and fatal errors on startup.
That context matters: the demo was a pre-release build, and it is no longer on Steam. Tiny Eden launched as a full 1.0 release rather than Early Access, so demo-build issues are not necessarily launch-build issues.
The design reduces the sting
The FAQ is explicit that there is no game over. You can run out of money, but it is easy to recover, and there is no time pressure as long as you take care of your plants.
That does not undo a lost save, but it does mean the game has no fail state pushing you to rush a rebuild.
Where to report it
The game's Steam Community discussion board is where these threads already live, and the developers post their announcements through the same Steam channel.
An official Discord also exists and is linked at the end of the developers' own FAQ announcement, alongside their X, TikTok and Instagram accounts.
A game continued from the demo or the playtest can also crash on load; a developer said to start a new game. See the not launching page.
What this page will not do
Several community posts describe manual backup routines and file paths. None of that appears in official material, and file layouts frequently change between a demo and a 1.0 build.
Publishing an unverified file path could send players to delete the wrong thing, so this page lists the gap instead.
Not confirmed yet
- No official cause or fix for save loss has been published.

- Whether any demo unlock or cosmetic — as opposed to the save file — carries into 1.0 is not documented.
