Tiny Eden: where the save files are
On Windows, players find Tiny Eden saves in a folder called CGH inside AppData Local, under Saved and SaveGames, as .sav files. Steam's own cloud log shows the same path. On Linux the native game writes to a different folder from the one Steam Cloud watches, which players say is why saves fail to sync on Steam Deck.
- CGHthe folder the game saves under
- .savthe save file type Steam Cloud looks for
- 2 folderson Linux, native and cloud
- Update #9added a prompt before a new game overwrites your autosave
The Windows folder
Three players give the same location, one of them as C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\CGH\Saved\SaveGames, and Steam's own cloud log agrees with them. The log a player pasted lists the rule Steam uses to find Tiny Eden saves, with the root set to the Windows AppData Local folder, the path CGH/Saved/SaveGames, and every file ending in .sav.
CGH matches the initials of City Garden Harvest, the name the developers say the game had before it became Tiny Eden.
- Windows
C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local\CGH\Saved\SaveGames\The path as one player wrote it. Files are .sav files.
- Shortcut in Explorer
%LOCALAPPDATA%\CGH\Saved\SaveGamesWindows expands %LOCALAPPDATA% to the AppData Local folder, so pasting this into the Explorer address bar or the Win+R box opens the folder.
Linux and Steam Deck have two folders
Players report that on Linux the native game keeps its saves under an Epic folder in the user's config directory. One Steam Deck player saw the cloud stay at 0 B for Tiny Eden, and another found the saves land in a different folder from the one Steam Cloud syncs from.
One player got saves to upload by switching the game to Proton, copying the saves to the Windows-style path, then launching and closing it. Back on the native version, the saves landed in Steam's own userdata folder instead of the config folder.
- Linux, native game
~/.config/Epic/CGH/Saved/SaveGames- Linux, where Steam Cloud syncs from
~/.local/share/Steam/userdata/{FRIENDCODE}/3375110/ac/WinAppDataLocal/CGH/Saved/SaveGames{FRIENDCODE} is your Steam friend code; 3375110 is the game's Steam app ID.
Steam Cloud: what the developers said and what players saw
The store page lists Steam Cloud among the game's features. When a Steam Deck and Steam Machine player asked whether it was supposed to work, the developers replied that it should, and suggested restarting Steam on the device that should receive the save.
Developers
- Cloud saves should be working, after speaking to the team
- Try restarting Steam on the device that should get the save
Players
- Windows: the exit sync log found 12 .sav files for one player
- Steam Deck and Steam Machine: the cloud stayed at 0 B and demo saves did not appear
- Linux: one player found the native game and Steam Cloud use different folders
A fix for Linux, from one player's guide
A player who hit the problem on Steam Deck wrote a step-by-step guide on Steam and says it worked for them on SteamOS and CachyOS. It is one player's workaround, not something the developers have published.
It replaces the native SaveGames folder with a link to the folder Steam Cloud syncs from. Back up your saves first, because the first step moves the existing folder away.
Step 1: Back up the current saves
Move the existing SaveGames folder somewhere safe, so it no longer exists under ~/.config/Epic/CGH/Saved.
Step 2: Check the cloud folder exists
Look for the Steam userdata path above with your friend code in it. If it is missing, create it.
Step 3: Create a symlink
From ~/.config/Epic/CGH/Saved, link SaveGames to the cloud folder.
Step 4: Launch and save
The guide says saves should now fill the cloud folder and back up automatically.
Moving saves and what the patches changed
One player who tried copying the Windows SaveGames folder to a new computer said replacing it did not work. A player replied that this is the folder they use too, and another asked whether the files might sit in OneDrive. On 21 September a developer answered that this should be the save folder, and asked which files the player sees there and whether they replace the whole folder or only move files with different names. No transfer procedure has been published.
Two other rules decide whether a save shows up at all. Saves from before version 0.10.0 are not listed, and demo saves do not work, both covered on the save wiped page and the demo save page. Update #9 then changed how the Load Game menu treats them, and Update #10 changed which slots the Save Game screen offers.
The demo, which left the store at launch, is on the demo page.
- Update #8, 17 SepBug reports now include a snapshot of your save from the moment the problem happened, without touching your regular autosaves. The save menu also opens without the earlier delay.
- Update #9, 18 SepIncompatible saves are hidden from the Load Game menu instead of appearing as unusable entries.
- Update #9, 18 SepStarting a new game asks for confirmation before it overwrites your autosave. Before, it overwrote the latest autosave with no way to recover it.
- Update #9, 18 SepThe Create New Save flow works with a gamepad, and the save menu is localized into all eleven languages.
- Update #10, 21 SepThe Save Game screen shows only the slots that can be overwritten, and a newly created save appears directly beneath the Create New Save button. The same update fixed an issue that could duplicate items when loading a save.
Not confirmed yet
- The developers have not published a save location or a backup guide.
- Whether copying the SaveGames folder to another PC works is not confirmed; one player said it did not.
- Whether the Linux folder mismatch has been fixed in a patch is not stated.
Frequently asked

- Why are my Steam Deck saves not in the cloud?
- Players report the native Linux game and Steam Cloud use different folders. One player's guide links the native folder to the cloud one.
