Tiny Eden: controller and Steam Deck support
Controller support is not listed on the Steam store page, but the developers say a controller works, and Updates #2 to #10, all but #3.1, each fixed something in the controller or Steam Deck controls. Steam rated the game Playable on Steam Deck, not Verified, when checked on 15 September. One player who had pushed hard for better controls wrote on 15 September that they are great now.

What the store page and the developers say
The Steam store page does not list controller support, and the developers said so themselves the day after launch. Their answer was that a controller does work, with a warning about parts of the interface.
A day earlier they had answered the Steam Deck question the same way: it should work, it just was not verified yet, and a controller should work with it.
How the controls changed after launch
In launch week, one player found a controller mostly behaved like a mouse. They wrote on 9 September that they still needed the keyboard to pick a tool or open the build menu, and had to find by trial and error which buttons mapped to which keys.
The developers answered that an update out that day improved the controller setup and in-game keybindings, and the fixes kept coming. Less than a week later the same player posted that the controls are great now.
| Update | Controller change in the notes |
|---|---|
| Update #2, 9 September | Gamepad key remapping works; keyboard and controller settings share one Controls screen |
| Update #3, 10 September | Vertical camera movement no longer inverted on controllers |
| Update #4, 11 September | Gamepad navigation fixed in the Guide and Encyclopedia |
| Update #5, 12 September | Camera inversion set separately for mouse and controller; PlayStation button icons detected through Steam |
| Update #6, 14 September | Right stick vertical input no longer reversed; controller inversion setting reset once for everyone |
| Update #7, 15 September | Category switching in the crafting menu fixed on a gamepad, including lost UI focus |
| Update #8, 17 September | Older Steam Deck installs that had picked Epic settings switch to Medium with TAA and a 30 FPS limit; the mouse wheel switches quick slots |
| Update #9, 18 September | Create New Save can be finished with a gamepad, and Shop cards can be selected with gamepad focus |
| Update #10, 21 September | Tooltips and quest instructions show the buttons of the controller in use; PlayStation icons show correctly on Linux and Steam Deck; keyboard and gamepad rows no longer vanish from the Controls menu while the device is connected |
Steam Deck
Steam's compatibility check rates Tiny Eden Playable on Steam Deck, the tier below Verified, which matches the developers' early reply that it should work but was not verified.
Update #6 on 14 September stopped the startup benchmark from running automatically on Steam Deck, and fixed a crash loop that could happen during that benchmark. Players on Deck have reported it running well in controller mode, and one found the right trackpad worked better than the analog stick before the gamepad fixes landed.
One Deck-specific bug is older: pressing A on the showcase moved it instead of using it, covered on the showcase page.

If the controls still feel wrong
Several complaints in these threads match settings that a patch has since changed, so check these before rebinding everything.
On Linux, a player whose A, S and D keys did nothing was told by the developers to run the game under Proton, because of bugs in the native version; see the not launching page.
- Camera moving the wrong way: Update #6 resets the controller inversion setting once for all players, so check it again after updating
- Mouse and controller inversion are separate options since Update #5
- Turning too slowly: before the fixes, one player switched to Steam Input and used the right stick as a joystick mouse
- Buttons in the wrong place: rebind them in the Controls menu, which Update #2 made work for gamepads
What is still not official
None of this has changed the store listing, which still showed no controller support when it was checked on 15 September, and no announcement calls it full support. The strongest statement that the controls are now good comes from a player.
For the rest of the platform picture, including Linux and why there is no console version, see every Tiny Eden platform and the Steam listing.
The console questions are on the PS5 page, the Xbox page and the Switch page; Update #6's crash fixes are in the patch notes, and older crash reports are on the demo crash page.
